Disney alum Julian Scott joins KidsCave as COO & MD ahead of Netflix series launch
UK animation firm KidsCave Studios has appointed former Disney exec Julian Scott as chief operating officer & MD after its new series, Kitti Katz, was picked up by Netflix.
Scott is an executive producer who has developed, financed and co-produced films and television series internationally for more than 25 years.
His previous roles include as director of international production for Walt Disney International Television, and VP of creative development and group VP of European operations at Sesame Workshop.
As COO at KidsCave, Scott will oversee the corporate development of the studio and manage its day-to-day operations. In addition to his role as COO, he will continue as a consultant for animation and kids TV with Film London.
The firm’s new series, Kitti Katz, is a 10 x 22-minute CGI action-comedy series that will launch on Netflix on 18 May. Aimed at kids aged 6-12, it follows the adventures of Tabs, Zami and Kia, 14-year-olds who gain the magical ability to transform between cute kittens and powerful super-cat-girls.
Founded by CEO and creative director Ed Bignell in 2015, KidsCave Studios first original series, Robozuna, launched on Netflix and UK broadcaster ITV in 2018.
Scott said that he was focused on “maximising our huge potential, whether that’s by exploiting our expansive development slate, taking on animation service work, diversifying into live action or through other intriguing possibilities.”
