Fifth Season hires Netflix’s Travis Webb to lead American sales
CJ ENM-owned Fifth Season has appointed long-time Netflix exec Travis Webb as SVP of sales for the Americas.
Joining the TV distribution team and based in the company’s LA office, Webb will lead sales activity for the firm’s slate of scripted and unscripted content in the US, Canada, and Latin America markets. He will report into Fifth Season’s president of TV distribution, Prentiss Fraser.
In his new role, Webb will also work alongside the company’s regional sales heads, the scripted TV strategy division, as well as the acquisition team – who all form part of the TV distribution division – to maximize revenue opportunities across the region and build the slate.
Webb will also be responsible for overseeing the company’s global non-theatrical sales group executives in Colombia and New York, who also form part of his team and will join Fifth Season’s senior leadership group.
Before joining Fifth Season, Webb spent nine years at Netflix, most recently as director of content acquisition for six years. During this time, he led global TV licensing and co-productions at the streamer and built a team responsible for the company’s ongoing TV licensing business around the world.
He also built a slate of co-pro and pre-buy titles for the platform, including Riverdale, Titans, Star Trek: Discovery and Queen Of The South and championed Netflix takeovers of licensed series Lucifer, You, Manifest and the Vikings franchise.
Fraser said that Webb’s “strategic vision and expertise in understanding both the evolving needs of buyers and the unique positioning of Fifth Season as a boutique, talent-driven studio” would be a valuable asset “as we continue growing our distribution business globally.”
